Reflections 2010

This year Jackson participated in the Reflections contest at his school. The theme was "Together We Can..." So being the Star Wars fan that he is, he built a Lego ship of Anakin and R2. It was "Together Anakin and R2-D2 will save the universe from General Grievous!" Wednesday night was when they announced the winners in each category in three age groups. Jackson got the Award of Merit (2nd place) for his ship in the 3D art category for the Primary age group! He was so excited! He got a trophy with his name on it. (We're calling it the Piston Cup for you "Cars" fans out there.) Now his ship moves on the next level. Congrats buddy!

*** For those of you who are doing the challenge you should be done reading around page 45 tonight. That's 9 pages a night. (Math genius!!)
Keep going, you're doing great!***

We're alive....and a challenge

Hello!
We're alive...mostly. I promise I'll get pictures and other sundries up eventually.

So for the challenge...
I've heard that if you ever have a goal, that you should tell other people about it so they can ask you about it and you can feel ever so slightly accountable to those you have told.

Here's my goal: I want to read the Book of Mormon all the way through by the end of the year. Starting today. That's only 8-9 pages a day. Totally doable I think.

You're all welcome to join in if you'd like. Just start where you are and read back through to that same place if you don't want to start back at 1 Nephi. It will be great!!

Even if you don't join in with me, ask me how I'm doing when you see me. And if you happen to have a treat with you, that would be awesome too.")

Ouch!!!

This is how Broder and I spent the morning today. He cut his big toe on the metal venting inside one of our air conditioning vents in the kitchen. It was my fault. I had taken off the cover because it was letting more air into the house. He was getting off one of the chairs to let Jackson take a turn at the computer and stepped into the vent. Huge scream, huge mess, huge cut! Luckily for us, we have good and awesome friends who are always there to help us.

It was our turn to have friends over today to play, and this whole thing happened literally about 2 minutes before they were supposed to come. I called my good friend Summer and told her of the emergency. She was going to try to call our other friend Reva who is a nurse. Luckily, Reva was on our doorstep waiting to drop her boys off. She came in and helped me clean Broder up a bit. Summer came and got Jackson, Kirsi and Reva's boys to take back to her house.

Broder got bandaged up the best we could and I drove over to the local InstaCare. Another lucky for us, there was no one else there! Miracle!

An hour and some later, after two rounds of numbing injections, little buddy had 4 stitches on the inside and 13 on the outside. The med. student told him he will have a Harry Potter scar. He was more excited about the blue Otter Pop they had promised him earlier and wasn't going to leave without it.

He is supposed to stay completely off it for today and tomorrow....we'll see. And then for the next week after that he is not supposed to run, jump or bounce....yeah. He is also not supposed to get it soaking wet, so baths are out unless we wrap him up in plastic wrap and tape, but I don't know if that will work either.

He is doing fine now. It's just going to take some inventiveness from Mom and Dad as to how to keep him entertained for the next couple days while trying not to watch thousands of hours of TV.

Hanna happenings

Kirsi's first full day of church. The boys were SO excited!

Getting in some quality tummy-time.

Big happy smiles from our big girl.

Give me liberty...

Thanks to Scooby-Doo and Shaggy, Broder has a new take on a famous Founding Father quote...

"Give me liberty or give me pizza pie!"

There are many more where that came from. He's a goofy quote machine!

Carpetry woes

Have you ever moved your furniture, just to clean and vacuum behind it, and in the process seen what your carpet used to look like before 6 years of living and playing on it? I did that today. Bummer.

2010 Toilet Reading

For some reason that I'll attribute to post-partum sleeplessness, I decided that now would be a good time to try and potty train The Bubba.
It did not go very well.
In fact, it lasted about 2 days...maybe 3.
These pictures were taken one day when he had a total accident and needed to be stripped down and washed. In an effort to try and keep him on the toilet, I gave him his Leapster to play while waiting for something to happen.
I don't remember anything "happening" on this particular trip, but the pictures were so cute, I couldn't help posting them.
Someday we'll look back on this and laugh...

....when I'm showing his wife. heehee ")

4 weeks old!

This is a picture of the family right before Tim and I went to the hospital.
Me and baby Kirsi after she came back from getting washed and "coiffed."
Pay more attention to her than me...I love this picture and can't get enough of her little face.

2 weeks old

Daddy and Kirsi taking a nap. This is the preferred position of sleep for her, but she is getting better at sleeping in her crib. Yay!

4 weeks old today!! Happy Birthday baby girl!

Honestly, time is kind of flying...which is why I still have some dishes in my posession from people who brought us dinner 3 weeks ago! Also, why some thank you notes are just barely being sent out (sorry!) and I am still in my pajamas at 1:30 in the afternoon. ")
