Happy Anniversary!

Happy Anniversary Mom & Dad!! We love you a bunch and a bunch and a bunch times three...at least!

Book Tag

So, tags are pretty much the funnest things ever...seriously. They give you something to write about that maybe you wouldn't even think about. So this is how this one works....

1. Pick up the nearest book of 123 pages or more. No cheating!
2. Find page 123
3. Find the first 5 sentences
4. Post the next 3 sentences
5. Tag 5 people

For me, it was harder to find a book nearby that was even made out of paper, not board, and didn't have the cover chewed on or ripped off. So, I am going to post with the book that I am currently reading...Our Mutual Friend by Charles Dickens.

"So, Twemlow goes home to Duke Street, St. James's, to take a plate of mutton broth with a chop in it, and a look at the marriage service, in order that he may cut in at the right place tomorrow; and he is low, and feels it dull over the livery stable-yard, and is distinctly aware of a dint in his heart, made by the most adorable of the adorable bridesmaids. For, the poor little harmless gentleman once had his fancy, like the rest of us, and she didn't answer (as she often does not), and he thinks the adorable bridesmaid is like the fancy as she was then (which she is not at all), and that if the fancy had not married some one else for money, but had married him for love, he and she would have been happy (which they wouldn't have been), and that she has a tenderness for him still (whereas her toughness is a proverb). Brooding over the fire, with his dried little head in his dried little hands, and his dried little elbows on his dried little knees, Twemlow is melancholy.

Whew! There is seriously only ONE sentence left in this paragraph. It's taking me a little longer than usual to make my way through this one. However, Dickens writes these characters through their own voices and obviously Twemlow is lonely and only has his thoughts to keep him company and so his thoughts tend to "talk" a lot.

Anyway, I tag anyone who happens to read this blog. You can post your "tag" in the comments section if you want or just do it on your own blog and I will check there.

Have super much fun!!

Need I say more...?

Gotta love my Bubba!!

Over the weekend...

...Broder was sick. But that isn't what I want to talk about. I was lucky enough to go out on a "date" with Jackson. It started off a little shaky though because when it was time to go, he was right in the middle of playing with his toys and was loathe to part with them. Anyway, I finally convinced him to come with me because we were going to take the train to SLC and go to the Jazz/Nuggets game! He was more excited about the train ride. Anyway, Uncle Chris Hanna got some really, really great tickets (Row 11!!) and offered them to Tim and I. But because Bubba was sick, I decided to take Jackson.

Anyway, the train ride was great. Jackson tends to announce everything going on inside and outside of the train in a very loud voice. "Oh! Station!" "Is this our station?" "Are we in Salt Lake yet?" "What is that guy doing?" "Crossing!!" It's pretty funny.

Once we got to the game, got our hamburger and fries and found our seats, it was time to start and it got loud...and he cried. But he was brave and watched the funny mascots and it got better. At halftime they handed out those balloon-stick/noisemaker things, which made the rest of the game all the better for him.

We headed home on the train after a fabulous win and I had a great date. We held hands and he even gave me a kiss at the end of it!")

Math Problem

I am not one for math, but I got this in an email from my Aunt and I thought it was fun.

1. Grab the calculator. (you won't be able to do this one in your head).
2. Key in the first three digits of your phone number (NOT the area code).
3. Multiply by 80.
4. Add 1.
5. Multiply by 250.
6. Add the last 4 digits of your phone number.
7. Add the last 4 digits of your phone number again.
8. Subtract 250.
9. Divide number by 2.
Do you recognize the # ?

Mommy Tag

1. Typically what time do you wake up?
There is a complete difference in my world between waking up and actually getting out of bed.") But on average, I am out of bed by 8:30 at the latest to the sound of Jackson getting his breakfast ready on his own(!) and/or Broder in his crib singing "Baby, baby, buh, buh, buh."

2. On a good night, what time are your kids in bed?
8:30 p.m. is when we start the process and if it all works out, everyone is brushed, read to and smooched no later than 9 p.m.

3. How long have you been a Mommy?
4 years, 11 months

4. How old were you when you became a Mommy?
One month shy of 24 years old.

5. What is your favorite kids TV show/movie?
Well, if we're going with mine, the current favorite is "Ratatouille," but if we're going with Jackson it would be "Nemo," or anything Thomas or Bob. We also enjoy watching anything on the Food Network. We're all getting to be very good at "cheffing."

6. What is your least favorite kids TV show/movie?
I really am not a big fan of Barney. Luckily, I don't even think my kids know it exists. Yippee!

7. What is your favorite chore?
I like to vacuum and I like to make dinner...on most nights.

8. What is your favorite meal to cook?
Our new favorite is this creamy pasta and broccoli dish. So good! I'll have to post the recipe some time. I stole it directly from the Kraft website. That's what they're there for, right?

9. What is the meal you cook most often?
That previously mentioned pasta dish, taco soup and french toast get a lot of "air time" at our house. I am trying to be better at experimenting with new recipes every week. A month or so ago, we actually had ratatouille. It was pretty good if I do say so myself.

10. What is your kids favorite meal?
Peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, fruit snacks and applesauce...that's our daily lunch special. As for "actual" meals, like dinner, Jackson seems to prefer anything he helps to cook. Broder just likes food...period.")

11. What is your favorite thing that your husband does with your kids?
I love it when Tim has Jackson help him with "big jobs." That is truly what Jackson loves to do very best. He has his own lawn mower that he helps with, he loves digging, he loves building anything and putting on his tool belt. I also love when Tim play-wrestles with the boys, because tickling usually is involved and that means laughing. I also love when Tim reads to the boys and plays games with them.

12. What are 5 things that make you smile when you're being a Mom?
A. Good, big hugs and kisses
B. When Jackson does a job or is helpful all on his own without being asked
C. Dancing in the kitchen
D. Broder's cheesy grin (see above)
E. The funny stories and things that are always coming out of their imagination

13. When was the last time you went out without your kids?
This last weekend. The boys were up at my Moms and we went to dinner
and a movie on Friday and dinner again! on Saturday...at 9:30 at night, no less.

14. What is your favorite past time/activity with your kids?
I love to read to them and have them tell me stories. I also like snuggling and watching a show or movie.

15. Name one thing you said you'd never do as a Mom?
Another vote for the "NO mini-van" thing. Yes, they are actually OK once you give them a try.

16. What is your favorite quality of your Mom?
My Mom can literally do anything. It's amazing. She is very creative and giving and smart too.

17. What is your advice for new Moms?
Don't worry about trying to do everything today and it's OK if the house is a mess and it's OK to take a nap sometimes and it's also OK to call your Mom at any time for help. They love that kind of stuff!

18. What is the scariest or most heart-breaking moment as a Mom?
The kids being sick or having something wrong with them and not knowing what to do and feeling helpless as far as helping them.

19. What is your most joyful moment of being a Mom?
When they come to you with a new masterpiece or a pulled "flower" or a big hug and snuggle.

20. When was the last time you were told "I love you" by one of your kids?
When I dropped Jackson off at preschool this morning.

OK. Now I guess I am supposed to "tag" someone else. Well, I gues anyone who would like to have a chance to share about their kids is more than willing to do it. I love hearing all stories! So...tag...you're it!

Thanks for reading!

Over the weekend, Jackson and Broder went up to Grammy and Papa's house. It seems that Jackson spent like 45 of the possible 70 hours playing with a farm set that included a barn, equipment shed, fence posts, and tons and tons of little farm animals. He had pigs, cows, chickens, a dog and three farmers, plus lots of other very tiny things. All in all, good times. Broder on the other hand, spent most of his time eating and letting Grammy change his exquisitely gross diapers...lucky!

Tim and I took the opportunity to go on a date. We saw "Leatherheads" which I had such high hopes for being that two of my favorite people are in it. Unfortunately, it was kind of slow and seemed to try a little too hard to revert to the "slapstick" comedy of the 1920's. Oh well. At least "The Office" is back on Thursday...hooray!!

Welcome!

Hello friends and family-
I hope you enjoy the silliness that ensues at our house. Hopefully, this will be a way that I can keep all of you caught up on what's going on and share funny pictures of the boys. Love to you all.
